What is Boat and Engine Winterization?

Boat winterization means draining any water aboard or replacing it with enough of the right kind of antifreeze to protect against low temperatures. Most of those who don’t winterize, or don’t winterize properly, only find out something is wrong in the spring when brown froth starts spewing through a crack in the side of the engine block or what looks like chocolate milk appears on the dipstick.

Repairing freeze damage takes time and can be extremely costly. Not to mention, by the time the boat is in working order, a good part of the boating season will have been lost. Thankfully, we offer different options to help you avoid these unfortunate scenarios.

*Due to fuel quality issues and varying ethanol content, we can no longer guarantee trouble free spring start-up. So far, our current treatment has been working well for the past several years. Please deliver your boat with at least a 1/4 tank of gasoline, so we have enough to run the engine during haul out and winterization.

Water System Winterization

We will circulate non-toxic propylene glycol antifreeze with a -50°F burst protection circulated through the system. Please pump down your water tank before delivering your boat to us.

Wash Boat Bottom

We will clean the bottom of your boat using On & Off acid wash. We will wash all the areas that can be reached and accessed from around the trailer. Please note that boats with painted bottoms cannot be acid washed.
